Upholstery Workshops & Courses
Ever wanted to learn Upholstery?
We have a variety of courses and workshops. The upholstery course takes place over 6 evenings or mornings. You should complete a couple of projects and will learn the foundation techniques of traditional upholstery as well as some decorative finishing This is ideal for beginners but also suitable for those wishing to take on more advanced projects.
Our Upholstery Classes
Classes are limited to 6 students and are taught by an established professional upholsterer.
You can also make a project from scratch such as a box cushion or footstool at our one-day workshops or book a drop-in upholstery club session for access to tools and help with your project.
Evening upholstery course
Our evening course is Mondays, 6.30-9pm This is a 6-week course where you will learn traditional upholstery techniques. You can work on your own furniture or there is an option to create a footstool from scratch to your design. The cost includes tool hire and consumables. It's suitable for complete beginners or those with some experience. We send out an information sheet on booking to help you choose projects but if you would like a copy prior to booking please get in touch!
Friday mornings upholstery class & drop-in sessions
The Friday morning sessions are 10-12.30. They can be booked in 6-week blocks (ideal for beginners) as well as blocks of 3 or single sessions for those with some experience who just need a bit of occasional help or use of specialist tools.
The cost includes tool use and consumables and the 6-week block has a make-a-footstool option. Classes are limited to 6 so everyone has an opportunity for individual help.
Sorry! We are not taking any new booking for upholstery classes until we have re-scheduled all the classes cancelled in the spring. Our next available courses will start in November all being well and we will make the dates available as soon as we can be confident they will run.
We have scheduled one of our popular 'Make a Footstool' days on 31sr October which is also a good introduction to traditional and modern upholstery techniques with the bonus of taking away a unique piece of furniture!
