Starts 28 Oct
150 British pounds
39 High Street, Staple Hill, BS16 5HD

Description

Our 6 week oil painting course is perfect for beginners in oil painting, or for those wanting to revisit the building blocks of painting, including brushwork, composition, colour, tone and form. You will be working from still life in the studio and taking inspiration from successful painters in this genre. In the first two lessons you will explore composition and tone through small studies, first in charcoal, and then in monochrome oils. As you build confidence, you will experiment with colour mixing, with the goal of producing at least one final colour still life composition. The full course schedule will be emailed to you on booking, or if you would like a copy beforehand please email hello@creativespacebristol.co.uk. You will be asked to bring a materials pack, which will be emailed to you on booking or request beforehand via email (approximate cost £50). We will provide a table easel for you to work with, or you are welcome to bring your own, along with odourless thinners, linseed oil, jam jars and dipping pots. About the teacher: Richard Parkin is an experienced and commissioned artists and painter working in oils and charcoal. He has also taught fine art, including painting, up to A Level for 13 years in high performing schools, and was head of Art for 8 years at a leading independent school in Suffolk. His passion is working with other artists and sharing his love of the creative process and the joy of working in oil paint. Before working in education, he was a producer director for the BBC and Channel 4, making documentaries and factual programmes about art and design.
