Description
Join award-winning author and performing poet Stefan Mohamed for a relaxed, informal 5-week course covering the basics of creative writing - from deciding what to write, to planning a project, to developing compelling characters. Touching on short stories, novel writing and poetry, this course is the ideal springboard for beginner and intermediate writers to try out different ideas and start developing a creative practice. Each session runs for 2 hours and includes various imaginative exercises, with plenty of time for writing and supportive tutor feedback. Please bring your preferred writing implement, whether that’s notebook and pen, laptop or typewriter! About the teacher: Stefan Mohamed is a Bristol-based author, poet, freelance editor and creative writing tutor. He graduated from Kingston University in 2010 with a First in creative writing, and later that year won the inaugural Sony Reader Award for Unpublished Writers (part of the Dylan Thomas Prize). He is the author of five novels and four books of poetry, and has taught courses and workshops with Arvon, Bristol Folk House and The Literary Consultancy. In 2022, he won the Sansom Award (part of the Bristol Short Story Prize), for his short story 'Reservation'.
