Course description

Come and enjoy a relaxing afternoon creating your very own cowboy boot flower vase and hat incense holder. In this 4 hour pottery workshop, you’ll be introduced to the art of hand-building using the slab technique. You’ll be guided step by step through the process of creating two beautiful functional ceramic pieces by our expert tutor Rachael Parker. A selection of three glaze colours will be available to choose from on the day. This craft workshop is perfect for sharing with someone close to you, or simply taking some much-needed time for yourself. A space to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy the joy of creating. Once you have created your pieces they will be air-dried in our studio for a week before being taken to a local pottery studio where it will go through it's first firing. They will then be glazed by our ceramicist before going through the second firing process. You will be contacted as soon as your piece is ready for collection. Please allow up to 5 weeks, as each item goes through a careful and delicate firing and glazing process. This workshop is for all abilities and is held in a learner friendly environment. All materials and use of tools are included. Maximum of 10 students. Minimum age to attend is 16. Price includes a £10 glazing and firing fee. Tea and coffee is included during the day but please bring your own lunch or pick something up from the local High Street 3 minute walk away. There is ample free parking in the streets outside and around the venue. About the teacher: Rachael Parker is a creative and therapeutic arts practitioner and hand-building pottery facilitator. She has recently returned to the UK after spending 7 years living in Australia where she built her pottery business, Zonnebloem Studios. Her passion lies in creating a safe, welcoming space for people of all abilities, especially beginners, to fully immerse themselves in the creative process. Pottery is a deeply tactile, calming, and therapeutic experience and through gentle, step-by-step guidance, Rachael supports her students in creating something truly special.
