Description

Explore the visual language of traditional Chinese Cloisonné through a contemporary hands-on making experience with expert Artist and workshop facilitator Amy Chen. Using a wooden base, fine metal wire, and coloured sand, participants will create a decorative coaster inspired by cloisonné techniques. Rather than using traditional enamel, this workshop reinterprets the craft through accessible materials while introducing concepts of segmentation, line work, and colour composition. This calm and detailed craft class encourages patience, creativity, and careful craftsmanship and is suitable for beginners. About the Tutor: Amy Chen is an artist and educator specialising in community- based craft and art workshops. Her practice focuses on bridging traditional cultural knowledge with contemporary aesthetics through hands-on learning experiences. She has extensive experience working with families, children, and adult learners, creating inclusive and supportive environments that encourage creativity, confidence, and cultural exchange. Her workshops emphasise storytelling, material exploration, and accessible making processes.
