Josh James has been a professional bookbinder for five years, and currently works at the fine bindery of George Bayntun in Bath. He has won awards for his bindings in international competitions and is currently a Weston Garfield Emerging Maker as awarded by the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust. 

 

Josh’s primary interests in bookbinding are in fine leather binding, including jeweled bindings, and gold tooling. He also loves the history of books and bookbinding, and always aims for his craft to be informed by historical practice, while also allowing his work to be led by an awareness of conservation materials and techniques.
