Lauren Holloway

Lauren has always immersed herself in creative endeavours since she was a child and in 2013, after dusting off an old vintage Singer sewing machine, started up her own business designing and making sustainable bags and accessories. She moved to Bristol in August 2015 and continued to develop her brand, selling in local and national shops, at gifts fairs and via her own online store.

In September 2021, Lauren decided to branch out into teaching her own workshops, and after investing in six Janome sewing machines was able to offer a variety of classes teaching machine sewing skills and bag making techniques in and around Bristol.

In April 2024, after working for Creative Space as the in-house sewing tutor for 2 years, Lauren took over the business from the previous owner and moved it from Bedminster to a new location in Staple Hill, a move which would prove to be a great asset to the local community. In addition to teaching her own courses, she is responsible for the day to day running of the studio, and now employs other experienced tutors who lead creative workshops in a variety of specialisms.

Lauren now offers a range of sewing & dressmaking workshops for both adults and children from beginner to intermediate level all around the South West, where participants can learn the basics of using a domestic sewing machine, brush up on existing sewing skills or develop new techniques to improve their craft. She also continues to sell her products online and in selected shops and is a regular contributor to the national sewing magazine Simply Sewing.

Lauren has a relaxed, patient and friendly approach in her teaching. Her workshops are a place to learn but also have fun in the process. Creating a warm, safe and encouraging space is very important, where no question is too silly to ask! Her aim is that students feel inspired for future projects and continued learning in addition to taking home their own beautiful handmade items to be proud of.
