Glass & Home Crafts

Come along and make something lovely for your home or garden.  We have a wide range of workshops including stained glass, fused glass, macrame, floristry, rag-rugging, lampshade making and we are always adding new classes.

Some classes are bookable on this website, otherwise follow the link to book direct with the teacher.

Make your own Lampshades

Join interior designer Hannah and make a rolled edge drum lampshade of your preferred size (15cm - 40cm in diameter). The course is suitable for complete beginners as all steps will be carefully explained and demonstrated, along with all the shortcuts, finer techniques and advice that will take your lampshade from amateur to professional!

Simply bring along your own choice fabric and Hannah will supply the materials needed and the guidance to help you make your own creation to take home.  Extra lampshade kits can also be ordered for you to make more at home. From £45

Batik Workshop - Make a Silk Scarf

Create patterned silk fabrics using hot wax and liquid paints.

Batik is the traditional technique of applying melted wax to a fabric base and adding colour, repeating the process to build up an intricate pattern, before removing the wax to reveal the finished design.

Using delicate silk as a base, you will learn to: apply silk paint evenly, print abstract patterns using wax, layer colours and patterns to create a unique design.​

You will make a practice piece, plus a silk scarf that you can wear or use in a sewing project. £65

Rag Rug making with Ragged Life

A full-day workshop designed to give you all the skills you need to be able to start any rag rug project for yourself at home.  Learn the traditional shaggy, short shaggy and loopy techniques of rag rugging into hessian, whilst making a project of your choice.

Fused Glass Beach Huts

Create a beautiful beach hut scene using a variety of pre-cut glass and accessories in an array of beautiful colours. There are plenty of templates to choose from or you can design your own panel.

This workshops is for children 16 years+.

Make 3 fused glass miniatures with Rachael Durkan from The Glass Cabin. Choose from a bird, rainbow, balloon, heart or fish.

Fused Glass Lantern Workshop
Create two panels for your lantern, the door panel and one other panel of your choice. The panels are approximately 9×13 (door) and 10x14cm. You can choose from a selection of templates to help guide your design and then pick from an array of pre cut glass and glass accessories to create your lantern panels.

Fused Glass Workshop

This is a taster fused glass workshop and you will learn the basics of kiln formed glass techniques whilst creating your glass piece. The workshop is informal, fun and relaxing and no previous experience is necessary.

Introduction to Raffia -
Raffia Clutch Bag

Join Claire from All Things Raffia for a great introduction to working with raffia. Complete beginners are very welcome.

Raffia is a very flexible and forgiving material to create with which makes it fabulous for creating a range of beautiful accessories for you or your home. In this workshop you will learn the basics of where raffia comes from, how you can dye it using natural or commercial dyes (in the workshop everyone works with natural raffia) and how you can create beautiful items using basic skills.

You can expect to have fun, master some basic raffia craft skills and leave with a clutch you have made yourself. £75

Make a Dried Flower Hoop

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners - if you're after an inspiring treat or fun opportunity to hang with friends, look no further.

  • Lucy will take you through the steps in creating a beautiful piece of floral art

  • You’ll have the freedom to select flowers and foliage with Lucy guiding you on the importance of texture, colour and shape

  • Lucy will give you tips on how to ensure your hoop stays pristine for years to come

With lots of material to choose from including plenty of ribbons and twine to finish your hoop, this is a chance to get experimental. You will leave the experience with your creation tissue wrapped and in a protective gift box - the perfect gift for someone special. £45
