Service Description

This 3-week workshop is an ideal follow-on from Beginners Machine Sewing or for anyone with basic sewing machine skills who wants to start making their own clothes. Learn how to read and understand commercial patterns and the foundation techniques for dressmaking while making a cosy pair of pyjama bottoms. Included in the price is a Simplicity commercial pattern with various his/hers nightwear designs which you can take away and re-use. You will learn how to understand and adapt patterns to get a perfect fit. Plus, get to grips with waistbands, hemming, joining straight and curved seams and pattern matching and achieve a professional finish with the overlocker. Just bring your choice of fabric and a matching thread. Taught by experienced teacher Lauren, there is a max of 6 students per class, and each student has an individual workstation. This class is designed for students with basic sewing machine experience and taught on your own machine but if you do not have access to one we have some available for hire for £10 for the course duration. The classes run on Thursday evenings from 7-9pm from 13th to 27th June at the new Staple Hill venue, High Street, BS16.
