We can help you get to grips with both. We host periodic day introductions to machine knitting where you can learn the basics and make a scarf to take home. We also have courses and one-off workshops in handknitting, for complete novices or those who want to learn more advanced techniques.

Weave a Cushion Cover

Under the expert tuition of professional weaver and textile designer Angie Parker, you will weave on a 50cm wide four shaft table loom.​ With access to a wide range of yarns, you can let your creativity run wild whilst learning a number of weave structures. The looms will be set up in preparation for this workshop and the day will be adapted to meet the requirements of each participant. £57.90 All materials & refreshments included. 2-5pm

Natural Yarn Dyeing with Local Wool

An introduction to the techniques and methods of natural yarn dyeing, and the vibrant colours that can be achieved through dyeing with responsibly foraged, home grown plants and food waste. You will leave with a variety of mini skeins of yarn naturally coloured with a range of hues, suitable for knitting, crochet, weaving or any other fibre craft. Yarn, materials and handouts are provided but please bring an apron, rubber gloves and a notebook. £50. Max 6 students per class.

Knit your own Bedsocks

Learn the basics of sock knitting, without the fiddly fine yarn and needles.

Knit Your Own Bed Socks will teach knitters with a good basic knowledge how to make the ultimate gift knit – snuggly, chunky bed socks that work up ridiculously quickly.

 Yarn, needles, tea, and biscuits are all included in this 2.5hr session, where we’ll knit the first sock together. You’ll then get to take home everything you need to knit your second sock

Introduction to Weaving on a Frame Loom
This two hour workshop will provide you with everything you need to know to create a beautiful nature inspired woven wall hanging on a frame loom. You will gain an understanding of different weaving techniques such as rya, looping and pattern making, and you will have a chance to experiment with a wide range of vintage and natural yarns to create texture and colour. The class is designed for both beginner weavers and also those wishing to develop their weaving style and meet other weaving enthusiasts.

Needle Felting - Animal Brooches
Using simple materials, Amelia will help you get to grips with the techniques needed to felt 3D objects, then you’ll get crafty and create your very own animal head. You’ll choose from a selection of animal heads, such as a fox, rabbit or elephant, and then begin to build your basic felt structure. You’ll be able to add colour and shape, attach the most fiddly parts such as the ears, nose and eyes, and finally transform your cute creation into a brooch! £35 - All materials included.

Rag Rug making with Ragged Life
A full-day workshop designed to give you all the skills you need to be able to start any rag rug project for yourself at home.

Learn the traditional shaggy, short shaggy and loopy techniques of rag rugging into hessian, whilst making a project of your choice. Includes all materials & refreshments. £75

Make a Macrame Plant Hanger

Come and join MAKE Creative Workshops in the studio for a morning of macramé. In this 2.5 hour session, you’ll learn a variety of macramé knots giving you the skills to be able to make your own unique plant hanger or a hanging macramé hoop. £30 all materials provided

Knit a Chunky a Santa Hat
Join Jacki from the Woolly Badger to knit a chunky Santa hat to a soundtrack of festive tunes.
With the option to knit your hat flat, and then seam it, or to knit it in the round, this workshop is suitable for everyone from confident beginners up to seasoned knitters who just fancy a bit of fun.
Yarn, needles, and pattern are all included, and since it’s Christmas, we’ll obviously have mince pies and mulled wine a-plenty. £40

Learn to Knit a Fair Isle Hat

This course will teach you everything you need to know to knit a classic Fair Isle colourwork hat.

We'll start with the basics; how to read a pattern, pick your yarns, and choose the right colours. Then we'll work through casting on, working with floats, keeping even tension, shaping your hat, and finally blocking and finishing.

Suitable for advanced beginners, by the end of this course you'll be ready to try bigger colourwork projects like a classic yoked sweater. £90 including yarn and needles.

Beginners Machine Knitting

A one-day workshop with Ria Burns Knitwear in machine knitting for complete beginners. You'll learn the basics of using a knitting machine, including punch cards for pattern, and you'll go home with plenty of swatches and a scarf made using the techniques you've learnt on the day. £100

The workshop will be using Brother knitting machines and all equipment and yarns are provided. Max 4 participants.

Introduction to the Oxford Punch Needle

Come and join Oxford Certified Instructor Sara from Whole Punching for an introduction to Oxford punch needle. Punch needle dates back to the 1880's and was traditionally used for making rugs; a much speedier alternative than it's closely linked craft of rug hooking. In it's modern application it is can be used for making cushions, wall hangings and many other textiles. All materials and equipment included £60

Punch Needle Hoop Wall Hanging

Come and join Sara from Whole Punching for a creative punch needle workshop and learn how to make your own punch needle wall hanging hoop. Needle punch or punch needle is a modern take on a traditional craft which was originally centred around making rugs. Now the technique is used to make a whole range of different modern textile items including wall hangings, cushions and bags. Sara will guide attendees in creating their own punch needle hoop wall hanging using either one of her designs or their own. All materials and equipment included £50
