Intermediate Machine Sewing

Course description

A 3 week evening course to follow on from our Beginner Machine Sewing course or for anyone who already has some basic experience with a sewing machine. Improve on existing skills and build more confidence using your sewing machine. On this course you'll learn quilting techniques whilst making your own quilted cushion cover along with learning how to insert a zipper into your cover. During the second project you'll be taught bag making techniques by making a lined shoulder bag in a fabric of your choice. Finish the course with greater confidence and knowledge of machine sewing techniques and leave with two lovely finished pieces to take home. You will learn: - Patchwork techniques - General troubleshooting - Cutting fabric from a pattern - Using a zipper foot and inserting a zip into a cushion cover - Bag making techniques - Different edge stitching - Achieving a professional finish WHAT'S INCLUDED? We provide zips and basic fabrics for the cushion cover, along with hardware for the bag. You will be required to bring your own fabric for the shoulder bag. This course is run over 3 weekday evenings from 7-9pm at our location in Staple Hill. Maximum 7 students each with separate work benches.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations by Creative Space: • In the event we need to cancel the course or workshop for whatever reason you will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer to another date free of charge. Cancellations by the attendee: • For courses booked and paid directly through Creative Space a refund of 85% will be given up to 14 days prior to the course start date. The fee is to allow for admin and payment processing costs. If a student cancels within 14 days we are unable to offer a refund. • If your circumstances change e.g. due to work commitments, childcare issues, moving away etc. a refund will not be given within 14 days of the workshop. • We consider all requests on an individual basis, depending on the circumstances. Rescheduling: • You may transfer to another course or workshop up to 14 days before the start date.
